I'm new to blogging so hope I haven't made any major faux pas in this...
I wanted a way to post images of what I'd made with my spoonflower fabric on my spoonflower account and saw you can add images from blogs, so I decided I'd start a blog showing all the things I've been making. I'm going to start with my lampshade because that's what I made with my fabric and it means I can link the images to my account.
I bought a 45cm lamp shade kid from ebay and used my fabric from spoonflower.
The fabric I designed was to match curtains we already have, which were made with Laura Ashley fabric. I was unsure whether I wanted green or blue to be the petal colour and so I made two designs and ordered the swatches from spoonflower. Really easy to do and it's a great website for either creating your own designs or purchasing designs other people have created and uploaded. They also do great competitions, but I've gone off on a tangent, back to the lampshade and the swatches...
This is the blue cascading petals design, which I liked but decided that the green being dominant would suit the colour scheme of our bedroom better. |
This is the green cascading petals design which I decided on. |
I ordered 2 yards of the fabric so that I would have the correct length to allow the stripes to run parallel to the hoops for the lamp. When it all arrived it was surprisingly easy to put together and I'm really pleased with the finished article. We've been looking for a lampshade for our bedroom for about 9 months and I'll admit I've been extremely picky, but now I'm glad we waited and I managed to make something which is completely unique.
The finished lampshade and the left over fabric...what to do with it??? |
Hope you all like it! I'll add some of the other bits and pieces I've made over time :)
